The Micro Tube Extreme Range (MTER) traffic signal preemption
transmitter can be mounted in virtually any location
on an emergency vehicle. The waterproof design permits
exposure to the harshest environments including engine
compartment and light bars. For mounting locations that
expose the MTER directly to weather or excessive moisture,
weather tight connectors should be used. The MTER has
a removable mounting plate. When installed with the mounting
plate, self tapping sheet metal screws are provided,
or use 8-32 machine screws, lock washers and nuts for
through bulkhead mounting.
Modes of operation. The MTER has several modes of operation, they are:
Extreme Range Mode. Provides an average
range of 2500 feet. Always enabled.
Disable Mode. Disables the strobe
emitter when the user activates one the disable inputs.
Diagnostic Mode. When wired correctly,
the diagnostic mode gives the user feedback on the MTER's
operating condition. For more information see Self
Diagnostics.
High Temperature Disable Mode. This
operating mode disables the emitter when the internal
temperature of the MTER gets too high for normal operation
and to prevent damage to the unit. Once the unit cools
down, the unit will resume operation.
